Youth and Teen Summer Reading

Plant a Seed, Read is rooted in the concept of farm-to-table. A farm grows food that nourishes our bodies; a library grows ideas that nourish our minds. Both food and stories connect us to our family, culture, economy, and ecology. 

Our 2026 Plant a Seed, Read Program runs from Monday, June 22nd to Monday, August 3rd. Kids and teens can come to the library starting June 22nd to receive their paper reading logs to track reading during this time. We have an Adult Summer Reading Program too!

You will track the hours you spend reading (or being read to) in order to earn raffle tickets and special privileges! You can choose to enter raffle tickets for a chance to win the prizes you like the most! Participants who read 12 hours will receive a unique ‘You Did It!’ raffle ticket.  This raffle with a surprise prize can only be entered once by using this special ticket.  In addition to the ‘You Did It!’ ticket, participants who complete 12 hours will also receive a voucher for a free ice cream cone at Mt. Tom’s and an invitation to get a Crooked Stick Pop at our end of summer reading celebration. 

We have awesome events taking place all summer long! Check out our web calendar for a preview of what to look forward to. A complete calendar of events for kids and for teens will also be included in the reading logs. 

Many of our in-person events will require registration due to our limited space. This year, signups take place right in our web calendars linked above.
