Today’s Hours:

January at the Library

From the Director:

Dear Library Friends and Followers,

Happy New Year! We’re not entirely sure what day it is or what time of the month, but we know we have a truly rich and joyful January planned. We’ve been reading through our new book piles and revisiting some old favorites over the winter break, and we hope you’ve been doing the same. Any recommendations?

January Events for Adults:
Join us for our monthly Fiber Arts Night or weekly Knitting & Crocheting Group at the Annex.

Our Cuba in the Valley film series, presented in collaboration with Massachusetts Peace Action, continues Monday, January 5th, with De Cierta Manera. Tuesday night is also for film buffs, with Movie club, at the Annex.

Get your hands and hearts into the dirt with two wonderful events—Restoring Life to Landscapes (Part of our Hands-On Ecology Series with Eric Vegeto), on Saturday, January 17th, and HOLEY BASALT: The Amazing Geology of the Holyoke Range, with Prof. Richard Little, on Wednesday, January 21st.

Parents and caregivers take note, and join author and educator Dr. Karen Rayne for Sex Ed for the Stroller Set: How to Have Honest Conversations with Young Children (a parent workshop), on Saturday January 31.

Yoga with Brian is on hiatus for snowbird season, but Brian looks forward to seeing you all again in the spring.

January Events for Youth:

There’s always something fun to do in our Youth Department, from cozy reading to toy adventures and passive programming such as our frequently changing Scavenger Hunts and Crafts!

Some special events this January include All Ages Winter Watercolors at the Annex on Friday, January 9th, and Family Yoga on Wednesday, January 7th, at 3:45pm at the Annex.

For our full lineup of January activities, check out our Calendar. While we make every effort to accommodate as many attendees as we can safely fit, many events (especially youth events) do fill up ahead of time–please register to attend if an event requires it.

As an independent non-profit which operates a public utility, the Easthampton Public Library relies on financial support from our community alongside public funding to ensure our ability to provide robust, free, and universal services, maintain two buildings, and plan for a sustainable future. We appreciate the many of you who are able to donate on a yearly or monthly basis, it makes our world go around.

Follow us on Facebook or Instagram for our latest updates on programming and new titles. We also welcome suggestions–if you have a book, DVD, or audiobook that you’d like to see in our collection, let us know.

We’ll see you soon at the Library!
Happy reading,
Katya
