It’s like a book club…but with MOVIES!
Presenting, our newest discussion club! Every other month, starting on July 23rd, we’ll be meeting to discuss and delight in a masterpiece of cinema. Our first selection will be Sunset Boulevard (1950, dir. Billy Wilder). Widely celebrated as one of the greatest films ever made, Sunset Boulevard is a dark-comedy thriller about a young man drawn into the fantastical world of an aging silent film star. From the acclaimed writer/director of Some Like it Hot and The Apartment, this film is a treat to behold and full of Hollywood legends like Cecil B DeMille and Buster Keaton.

The rain date for this event will be Friday, August 9th, at 6pm.

Mountain River Taiko Performance
August 3 @ 10:30 am – 11:00 am
We are delighted to be hosting an all-ages Taiko performance on the library lawn this summer! Taiko is a full-body performance art that blends physicality and musicality, movement and rhythm. Originating in Japan but molded by a globalized world, taiko performances pay homage to ancient rhythms as well as innovate contemporary beats. Bring a blanket to sit on if you’d like.
Mountain River Taiko is a multi-generational community group sharing their love of Japanese drumming in western Massachusetts and beyond for over 10 years. MRT practices at the Bombyx Center for Arts & Equity in Florence, MA and offers performances and workshops. For more information, visit www.mountainrivertaiko.com
